Arrived at Cimaid base after 12 hours drive from Vinitsa across the border into Moldava .an hour to get through Border into a new country for us ,rolling hills and fertile valleys down almost the length of the country with the Hills of Romania on our right side .
Have been familiar to some extent with this work started by Sydney sider Mathew Hillier in the early 90,s but it has grown exponentionally in this small Country of arround 3 million people. They have based their work here after surveying all the eastern euro countires in the region as being more acceptable and have been welcomed and are very much part of the Community . They first of all run summer camps for Kids in their hundreds at their camp base here .
They also have redeveloped a large abandened soviet style 5 story block as office headquarters also base for postal bible courses all over the region and run a Christmass pageant each year that seas over 2500 kids through.
They have over 60 staff mainly from Local, Romania, Australia, UK and the States .
They run a fire service after seeing the need and have around 80 call outs a year with training facilities and three fire trucks from the UK .
They run a meals on wheels service to local villages daily.
They still send containers from Brisbane and we have been able to get some of our stuff especially hand knitted clothing into these containers .
Their are many young families working here and it is a great atmosphere and it was well worth the drive to get down here.
