A Cricket match in Ukraine ? yeah I wish, would be the dream of an Indian Medical student . Well step in Wayne Zchech from Brisbane who first came here when he was 18 with a dream to be a church planter in the emerging new Ukraine after Pererstroika in the early 90,s all was new in Ukraine as the old order was gone .

Wayne was an avid cricketer in Queensland and over the next few years was able to persuade the local Mayor to allow him to use a field on the edge of town as a cricket ground complete with an astro turf wicket and some facilities .

You see the Indian, Pakistani and Bangla Deshans come to Keiv for their tertiary education and they just love cricket it is the only sport they seem to know and the opportunity tp play a match on a ground set up is very inviting.

So Wayne with some local Ukrainians has organised weekend competitions and we were lucky enough to arrive in the midst of real fair dinkum tournament a round robin of several 15 over matches played over this long weekend holiday period . Wayne also has a practice wicket at his home and Church property complete with Astro turf and a bowling machine
