Tractors on Sunday

Went to Church this morning early 8.30am at Towner Methodist. Bible Study then breakfast and then the main service. Great welcome , very similar to Granite. Small rural church expanded on both sides . Not quite as barn like as ours.

Then we drove to the John Martin Dam near Lamar to check it out. It is as full as it has been for years but not yet spilling but we were unable to drive over the dam as it is closed, probably scared of terrorism attack.

On the way home we called on Frank DeVall’s farm where he has two large sheds full of old tractors. One shed full of over 50 IH Models from 10 20,s through to 650,s. All restored and many set up for vintage pulling . He has a WD40 with a over 400 ci ih  truck engine .

In the other shed which also houses  a mobile Home ( I guess a $400k job  with slideouts both sides) He has a mixture  of USA  tractors, Yellow MM , Green Olivers some very old crawlers. A Pull  special MM with a huge 700 + c1  MM  engine from a pump station. I thought I had the biggest mm engine in my Oliver 2155 at 550 ci.

He has an Oliver 90 that he has bored out to take Cummins sleeves and pistons and he has made a machining tool to bore out these sleeves .

Short of a starter on some of these older tractors he has fitted a ring gear to the belt pulley and fitted a starter on that .Very impressive display.DSC_0058 DSC_0057 DSC_0056 DSC_0055 DSC_0054 DSC_0053 DSC_0052 DSC_0051 DSC_0050 DSC_0049 DSC_0048 DSC_0047 DSC_0046 DSC_0045 DSC_0044 DSC_0043 DSC_0041

We finished the day with the concluding service of the Vacation Bible School held during last week. The theme had been `climbing Mt Everest’. the children had studied the power of God through challenges – the songs were bright. the backdrop stunning – Himalayan mountains – cut outs of mountains and Everest. Tibetan flags- children had written on the flags how they see God in the everyday.

We have enjoyed Linly and Sherell Stum’s company – lots of conversations on many different subjects.

Tomorrow we move onto the mountains of Colorado
